Take the next step in machine care

In a typical construction machine, lubricants amount to 2-3% of running costs. But 56% of premature bearing failures are caused by contamination and inadequate lubrication practices.

That’s why we talk not only about lubrication but also about lubrication lifetime solutions as an essential part of machine operation and vehicle maintenance.

We can never avoid failures of components exposed to friction, but with combined data insights and means of intervention, we can safeguard effectiveness and reliability, supporting asset health and sustainability. Using technology to improve the way we use our resources responsibly.

This is the next step in machine care.

How SKF helps you meet typical challenges

Increase machine availability

Machine availability is critical to staying competitive. Correct lubrication at every point is essential to maximize performance, reduce wear and tear on machinery and avoid unplanned and unnecessary stops.

We help you take a holistic approach to lubrication, such as implementing automatic machine lubrication systems. By replacing manual lubrication, you can typically save 15-20 minutes per machine and maintenance cycle.

Stay ahead of the competition

The construction market is competitive, with tight budgets and demanding schedules. Reliable and long-lasting machines are crucial for success. Poor lubrication accounts for over 36% of premature bearing failures, and if you include contamination, the figure rises above 50%.

Automatic lubrication ensures the right amount of grease at the right time and point, boosting efficiency and prolonging maintenance intervals.

Free up time for staff

Skilled maintenance staff are increasingly scarce worldwide. By switching from manual to automatic lubrication, you ensure consistent and precise lubrication with minimal human intervention, reducing the risk of accidents.

Integrating lubrication assets with digital tools such as our SKF eLube app gives full control of the lubrication status of all your construction equipment.

The 5+1 steps to reliable lubrication

The “5-R-Method” is a common way to describe reliable lubrication:

  1. Apply the right lubricant,
  2. in the right amount,
  3. with the right method,
  4. at the right time and
  5. to the right lubrication point.

Adding the right connectivity as a sixth “R”helps maximize production uptime, reduce energy consumption and emissions, and lower the risk of premature bearing failures.

From manual to automated and connected

We can help you step up your lubrication activities based on where you are today and where you want to go.

From selecting the right lubricant for your machine, utilizing manual or semi-automated lubrication with grease guns like our PowerLuber, to standard and market-proven automatic lubrication systems for all sizes of machines, the SKF Lincoln portfolio supports machine owners in reducing friction and increasing uptime.

Through our digital solutions, you can track the lubrication status of every piece of construction equipment in your fleet, share insights with your team, ensure operators follow lubrication instructions, and collect data for statistics and continuous improvement.

Building a bridge

Our cartridge pumps combine the best of manual and automatic lubrication.

Pumps like the AECP or the MGH utilize standard grease cartridges, making refilling an autolube system as easy as refilling a grease gun. They do not require any special refilling tool or equipment. In addition, using cartridges allows for a wide range of lubricants. SKF offers greases that have been developed explicitly for construction machine applications.

Our HTL201 hydraulic tool lubricator mounts directly to the hydraulic tool and lubricates continuously throughout its working phase. The hydraulics of the carrier machine drive the lubrication pump, which stays on the tool to be lubricated even if the carrier machine is exchanged.

All cartridge pumps fit into tight spaces thanks to their small footprint and flexible mounting options. They are very robust and withstand harsh working environments and conditions.
